Mat Weaving
Mat weaving in Turtle Islands, Tawi-Tawi, is a cherished cultural tradition among the Sama indigenous communities, particularly the Sama Tepo, Sama Dilaut, and Jama Mapun. This intricate craft, passed down through generations of women, transforms locally sourced pandan (Pandanus spp.) leaves into vibrant, double-layered mats known as tepo or baloy.
